Review:
I picked up a White Rattlin Beast from RJR Lures as part of the April 2008 Member Review program through TexasBestFishing.org. Initial
impression of these was not very good but that was quickly changed once we tied them on and went Sandy fishing on Ray Roberts Lake. Check
out the Fishing Report on 5/3/2008 for more details.
The Bass responded really well and I
believe it is because of the action and texture of this slab. The RJR slabs flutter like no other in the water and because they are not shiney
they do not blind the bass. This means that the bass can clearly see the bait and make their attack successfully the first time. The texture
of the paint is also somewhat spungy so it feels more like a soft plastic and not like a hard hunk of metal.
With most slabs I've tried from
other manufacturers the one experience I have most often is that the Sand Bass will bump or tap the slab before a full strike. However, with
RJR's slabs they strike it hard the first time every time. The bite has so much power behind it that a dink feels like a 5lb largemouth. A
8-10 inch fish can bend a medium heavy rod in half trying to pull it up. I was really impressed by this product. The only real problem is the
treble hook is a bit small. To assist with hook removal, increase the hook size so that the smaller fish do not engulf all 3 hook points.
Another tip is to flatten the hook barbs, especially when Sand Bass fishing wtih children or if you are a guide with customers on the boat.
You'll never loose the fish because of the fight they put up and hook removal will be so much easier. This will result in less hooks in the
fingers.
Where to Buy:
At $1.65 these slabs are also VERY reasonably priced for the working man. To purchase some of these slabs for yourself, click here to visit http://www.rjrlure.com
and be sure to tell the guys at RJR that you heard about them from me.
